Deep Tissue

The common use of Deep Tissue Massage Therapy is to provide deliberate, direct pressure on the body’s deeper muscle layers to aid in increased movement and blood circulation. However, it is also used to treat adhesions, trigger points and constricted fascial tissues. Adhesions are the result of scar tissue that has built up in the muscles over time. Trigger points can be adhesions or knots, and they can create referred pain to other parts of the body. Fascial tissues, or fascia, are the the thin fibrous layers of tissue that cover muscles throughout the body. When this tissue becomes increases in rigidity, it begins to restrict normal range of motion and the  circulation of fluid within the tissues.

The best results of Deep Tissue work are achieved through professional techniques involving friction, deep strokes, and steady, held application of direct pressure with the use of fingers, palms, knuckles, elbows and forearms. These techniques can restore muscle tonicity, lengthen and balance tissues, improve posture,  and restore proper muscular/structural alignment.
